In this exercise, you need to conjugate the verbs in brackets with the French subjunctive tense. But, be careful there are 2 of them which doesn’t use the subjunctive ! Let’s see if you can guess which one they are and if so, which tense would you use.

The French Subjunctive / le subjonctif

In French, you need to use the subjunctive after some expressions like :

  • J’aimerais que / Je veux que / Je voudrais que / Je préfère que
  • Il faut que
  • C’est dommage que
  • Je crains que / J’ai peur que
  • Il vaut mieux que
  • Jusqu’à ce que
  • A moins que
  • Il est possible que

and also after some negative expressions like :

  • Je ne pense pas que / Je ne crois pas que / Je ne trouve pas que / Je n’ai pas l’impression que / Je ne suis pas certains que
  • Ce n’est pas normal que
